I work as a Principal Research Scientist with the Western Australian Department of Environment & Conservation. I am stationed at the WA Herbarium where I pursue taxonomic research with a focus on the Asteraceae or daisy family. I also provide forensic botanical services.
My interest in music of the distant past has centred largely on the recorder, though I play a number of renaissance wind instruments as well as the trombone. In the past I have taught recorder at the WA Conservatorium of Music, and lectured in early music performance at the University of WA's Department of Music. I continue to teach a small number of private students.
Together with my wife, Lorna, my current pre-occupation is with the upbringing of our two children, Maeve (21) and Sam (19) whose explorations of the worlds of graphic design, photography, music, law and science bring constant joy into our lives.
